Wow, I feel like I blinked and April just flew by. Can it really already be May?
In April, I finished up my last few weeks of student teaching. (what??) I officially only have 6 days left until Graduation! (again…WHAT.) I also celebrated my 22nd birthday surrounded my wonderful family, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
April 16th // On my Birthday, my Mom and I spent the morning running around town. I think my favorite part of the day was the FOOD. We picked up lunch from my favorite meat & 3 restaurant in town, and took it over to my Grandma's house to spend time with her. We had fried chicken, mac-n-cheese (my favorite), green beans, mashed potatoes, corn pone, and of course, birthday cake! That afternoon some of us went to see The Jungle Book in theaters, which was incredible! To finish off the day, my Mom and I went to the Jewelry store to pick out my first Pandora bracelet as a combined graduation & birthday gift. I couldn't be more thankful for such a wonderful day with my friends and family.
So, aside from my Birthday (lol), here are a few of my favorite things for the month of April.
1. Baskin Robbins Ice Cream log cake // Food
OH MY WORD. My Mom and look forward to our birthdays every year mostly because of this cake. It is seriously the best cake on the planet, so of course it made it in my monthly favorites. If you've never had it, do yourself a favor and go get you some!
2. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants // Movie
I don't know how I am just now discovering The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies, but I sure am happy I did! I'm not a huge tv or movie watcher, but there are certain types of movies and shows that I will totally binge watch for hours. (Gilmore Girls & Fuller house anyone!?) Anyway, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1 & 2 are movies that I know I will be watching over and over for years to come. SO. GOOD. And yes, Santorini has officially been added to my travel bucket list.
3. Disney Pandora Charms // Fashion
As a combined graduation & birthday gift, my Mom and Grandma let me pick out and design my first Pandora Bracelet! Ever since Pandora's collaboration with Disney, I have had my eye on some of their charms. My Mom and I went down to Jared's and immediately decided I needed to go with the Cinderella collection. Ever since the new Cinderella movie came out, my Mom and I have been OBSESSED. So naturally, I went with the Cinderella beads since it was a gift coming from my Mom. I couldn't be more in love with it, and this bracelet will be something I cherish for life.
4. Making Lists // Random
This is definitely random, but I have always been a huge list maker. I have never enjoyed journaling, and writing has never been my strong suit. However, I have always loved making lists! About a year ago I picked up the cutest little blue notebook from Marshalls, but only recently (as of this month) started using it to write down blog post ideas, Youtube videos, goals, to-do lists, basically any kind of list you can imagine! I love carrying it around in my bag and being able to write in it whenever I get an idea or a free moment. So yeah…very random…but my little blue notebook has definitely been a favorite this month. I also received the coolest book called The 52 Lists Project as a birthday gift from my Aunt. If you love making lists, this book is basically the coolest thing since sliced bread.
5. Draper James Phone Cases // Fashion
Do phone cases fall under the fashion category? I don't know, but one thing I do know is that I love this phone case! It's colorful, surprisingly protective, and has the cutest little southern saying on the back! If you know me, you might know I have a slight obsession with Reese Witherspoon's clothing line: Draper James. (See my March favorites…you might notice a pattern..) It's Southern style at it's finest. (and cutest!) Anyway, when I upgraded my phone this month, I knew where I would be getting my new phone case from! This may be the cutest phone case on the planet. OBSESSED.
6. Romans 5:8 // Bible Verse
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
I loved you at your darkest. I'm trying to remember where I found this quote, but somebody Bible journaled it alongside Romans 5:8 in their Bible and it really stuck with me this month. It is just incredible to me and a great reminder that even though we are sinners- Jesus loves us. Before I/we accepted salvation and lived in the darkness, he loved me/us just as much as he does now. When I walked through a time of darkness in my life, he loved me through it. I may not have realized it then, but He was always there. Even though I fail each and every day- he loves me. When I stumble and fall, he catches me. He is the one thing in our lives that is unchanging. No matter what we've done, Jesus will always love us. There is nothing more comforting than that truth.
I wish you all a wonderful month of May! We are almost to SUMMER!
